Preparing for a mixed HR and technical panel
When HR and an engineering lead share the same hour, your answers need both concrete delivery stories and clear communication.
Mixed panels are common in German IT hiring: HR asks about collaboration and motivation while an engineering lead probes depth. Applicants often treat this as two interviews stuck together and switch tone too abruptly.
Keep one through-line. When HR asks why you want the role, connect it to the same projects you will discuss with the lead. When the lead asks about a failure, include how you communicated it to stakeholders — that answer serves both listeners.
A rehearsal tip
